About Me
My name is Travis Hall.
I am a writer with a passion for America’s uniquely wild landscape. I’m also a hunter, an angler, a forager and a general and frequent sojourner into whatever realm of wild nature I tend to be closest to at any given moment. I’ve partaken in many an outdoor pursuit over the years, but above all, I gravitate toward those that allow me to participate in the natural process on an elemental level. For me, that means hunting and fishing every time the opportunity arises. These activities offer ample opportunity for thoughtful communion with nature and sometimes, when the stars align, they provide tangible goods in the form of wild meat, wild fish or wild-foraged produce.
It is my firmly held belief that these fruits of the natural world—wether that be a brook trout hauled from a mountain stream, a whitetail doe harvested on the edge of a Midwestern Ag field or a flush of chanterelle mushrooms plucked from the comfortable confines of your own back yard—constitute the highest quality food and nourishment that has ever been available to mankind.
This blog is a concerted effort to uphold that belief and, through my own journey of culinary education and self discovery, to help others prepare and utilize the fruits of their hunting, fishing and foraging forays in the best way possible.
Thanks for stopping by!
